I'm looking for an old Airdyne on Craigslist. So far they haven't been showing up, except at resellers who ask far too much. I might have to buy new.

There are a few options: the Schwinn AD2, AD4, and AD6, some off brands, and the very expensive "Assault Bike."

    Amazon.com : Schwinn AD2 Airdyne Bike : Sports & Outdoors

    Amazon.com : Schwinn Airdyne AD4 Upright Exercise Bike : Sports & Outdoors

    http://www.amazon.com/Schwinn-AD6-Ai.../dp/B008JA2X5S

Amazon.com : Lifecore Fitness Assault Air Bike Trainer : Exercise Bikes : Sports & Outdoors

The assault bike looks good, but there's no way I'm paying $1000 it. The name is stupid. I'd have to paint over it in about 4 or 5 places. At least it doesn't have a skull or a grenade on it. . . .

What are people using? (I have a C2 rower, but want something else. . . .)

I found a listing for about 5 airdynes less than an hour from me. Someone is updating a gym to the assault bikes. They are asking $175 each. I'm not sure. . . .

In my craigslist market of Airdynes (Minnneapolis/St. Paul MN metro area), I've seen them as low as $75 and as high as $3-400. After a couple months of watching prices I settled on paying no more than $150. I think your price of $175 is fair (in comparison to my market over a couple months). FWIW, I got a late 90s Airdyne for $130.

    This is basically correct.

Wait for a deal on one of the older ones.

I wouldn't sell your rower, though. I think you'd regret that.

No way. No plans on selling the rower. That thing will out last me. I like it. I just want to be able to change things up, especially if my back is tired.

If we can fanagle some sort of cheap shipping and payment method, I'll pick you up one in MN. Probably a half a dozen a month are posted.

It turns out the seller owns a crossfit box. It looks like they have a couple dozen airdynes. (Replacing them with assault bikes is a big investment. . .) These have probably seen a lot of work in the last year or so. They are the old model, gold and some white. They have digital displays.

If I make it out there, I'll just make sure that the main bearing is smooth and the gears aren't worn down. $175 is a little more than I'd like to pay, but I haven't seen any better deals around here and I've been watching for a while. The reseller nearby is charging at least $250 for these.

It's no rush though. I can wait if this isn't a good deal. It's surely not a great deal, but it doesn't look bad unless the institutional use is an issue.

Ah. Okay. The rower plus airdyne is an awesome anaerobic & aerobic training twosome.

$175 seems high for the gold or white one. The golds I saw were usually around $100 if not under. The whites I saw were $125ish. The dark gray (like mine) $150-175.
