G'day Rip et al (and, hopefully, Sully!)
An old friend of mine recently had a pretty major heart attack (12 defibs before stabilised, stent inserted etc, nasty, a fortunate set of circumstances is the reason he's still alive - it's handy having a daughter who was home AND was a trainee paramedic!). Long story short, as far as anyone can tell he has no heart muscle damage(!), has a stent in one of the major arteries and is on statins.

He's rehabbing, and is frustrated. He was a strength guy (track sprint cyclist), deadlifts, squats etc, mostly SS programming, has been for years. Moderately strong, but committed. Multiple state champion in his masters age group.

They have him doing light cardio and very light weights as part of his rehab.

I seek the board's wisdom, is there any good science to support resuming strength training post heart attack? Everything he's being told is "no hard stuff", roughly, except from his surgeon who was expecting full recovery to his sport. Everyone in the rehab world is telling him to go for walks, pretty-much.

Sully? I have googled this forum but not found anything directly relevant, but I may well have missed something.

I'm very sure this has been discussed. Search again.
