I don't see a question here.
A 16 year old kid from this part of the country, C.J. Cummings, recently won gold at the World Junior Championships.
At a body weight of 154 he had a 302lb snatch and a 397 clean and jerk. Hopefully his coaches will let him get big and strong over the next 4 years, but they already have a kinesiology professor videotaping his technique with high speed cameras.
I don't see a question here.
Do you hold out any hope that in a country of 360 million, that sufficient athletic talent can be identified and adequately coached so that some of these athletes could qualify for the 2020 Olympics in weightlifting? Do you even care anymore?
The coaching paradigm precludes this.
Very few Americans care about Olympic Weightlifting.
Fewer all the time, especially when we can't get a lifter to the Games. If USAW doesn't care, why should the people who pay the bills?
The USOC has announced closure of the USAW training center in Colorado. They are looking at alternate sites. Here's your chance Rip. New center in Wichita Falls! Start lobbying the USAW.
