Press Texas Method Q
I have a question regarding programming the press once novice progression runs out.
My standing press has stayed at 75% of my BP pretty constantly throughout my novice phase. I like the balance of alternating them both.
The thing is, I'm not sure how to do it when I get to weekly progression. If there's a heavy, light and intensity day, where should the press go?
BP at 5x5 would be ok on Monday, but to maintain the balance, I'd need to loverhead press 5x5 at some point. I'm not sure if it's a good idea to do both on the volume day (or is it?), and the intensity day would be out of the question.
So does that mean the press should go on the "light" day even though it's a heavy effort?

Most people get good results by treating the press like it's a light day exercise, even though it's a heavy effort, because it's light relative to bench day and doesn't tap in as much. That's the way we've used it here, and it works fine, for a while anyway.
