Programming in more power cleans exercise
Hi,
I'm on advanced novice LP as laid out in PPST. I do not have any light days or anything for now, and increase 3 times a week on all excercises. Uptil now, I have not done power cleans, but I want to correct my former sins. Do you have any suggestions to how I can incorp more PC practice in my current program without making the program too stressful? If I follow the program by the book, I will only do the lift once a week, which I feel is not enough for practicing the lift, when my technique is as poor as it is. I've thought about simply going to the gym one extra day a week and do light technique practise. Or add it at the end of other workouts.. But not sure about the best approach here.
In case you need the info:
Im 29 years old, 188 cm and 105 kg. I've just started training again after 1 month lay off due to travel. My most recent lifts are:
Squat 125 kg x 5 x 3 (reps x sets)
Deadlift 140 kg x 5
Bench 95 kg x 5 x 3
Press 61 kg x 5 x 3
Power cleans 65 kg x 3 x 5
I would be very thankful if you could give me some tips on this matter.

Why do you think the stress of doing power cleans according to the program will be too stressful for you?

This wasnt what I meant. I have done power cleans according to the program for 3 weeks, but since I am adding them in so late, I am only doing PCs once a week. I can feel my technique and timing is terrible, so I want to practise the lift more. So my question was how I can increase my power clean training frequency in advanced novice LP?
I've thought about dropping back extensions and doing some power clean practise instead. Is that a viable approach?
A:
Squat
Press
Deadlift/power clean
B:
Squat
Bench
Power clean
Chins

You can just admit that you're not an advanced novice and DTFP.

When revisiting the book, I see I am actually following the classic novice program A/B. I dont know why I got it in my head that it was called advanced novice. It's like this:
A:
Squat
Press
Deadlift/Power clean
B:
Squat
Bench
Back ext
Chins
So by your blunt response, the power clean frequency in this program is enough to learn the lift quickly when I have never done the lift before the last three weeks? I am asking because when PCs are first introduced in SS, it's supposed to be every workout B for a short while (as you of course know). So it's more practise initially. I just wanted to know what I could do when I add power cleans at a later stage in the novice program.

Back up a step and do power cleans every other workout.
