Testamonial, Zone and Hyperlordosis
Hi Rip,
Thanks for the great books, have SS 1st and 2nd edition and PP.
I`m Shane from Sydney, Australia, am a crossfitter taking time off to do SS to build my strength in the main lifts. Been doing it for 5 weeks, however a few modifications........I am doing 3 sets of dips and chins to failure at the end of both workouts A and B; AND replacing back squat with front squat on Workout B with great results:
I have noticed some great improvements in strength and some size (without the GOMAD).... so far.
I am 34 yr old ectomorph , 6ft 1 (185cm). Five weeks ago I was 72kg (162lbs) and I am now weighing 77kg (173lbs). Thanks!
I am currently zoning 21 blocks per day and about to start GOMAD gradually to add some more size. Just wanted to ask............ if the correct approach is GOMAD on top of strict zone? As I am not too sure how to count calories after zoning for so long.
One last thing, I have noticed a great improvement in my posture, particularly my hyper lordosis (sway back) is not as pronounced anymore, just wondering if you have had similar success with other clients who have excessive sway in their lower backs? I previously tried pilates to rectify the issue but didn't get very far in alleviating the problem.........it seems that progressively heavier squats and deadlifts have strengthened my core musculature without me having to work my abs directly. I am amazed at this phenonamen.
Thanks again for the books and for your input on this forum

Replacing back squats with front squats in this stage of the program will result in an early stall, and I don't recommend it.
The correct approach to the weight gain diet does not involve the Zone Diet at all. You just add a gallon of whole milk a day to the meals you're already eating, and unless you're eating like a small rodent this will make you gain weight.
And it's not unusual for a bad back to get better with weight training. It might be considered the tide that floats all ships. Kinda.
