Hard to say, Lots of people use DB shrugs with success. I dont simply because I want to shrug more then the 120 lb db's they have in my gym. Im not sure if you've read the rack shrug article up on this site but its where I got my technique from. I combined that with a website called chaos and pain who essentially say fuck perfect form and lift as heavy as you can. so I do grimey BB shrugs heavier then my deads and its worked great for me. Id encourage you to experiment though with both, If DB's seem to work better as you say then keep at it. Just make sure you give BB shrugs another go when your not satisfied with the weight your shrugging.
