    Thanks, all.

Submitted my openers. Back is feeling better today, so hopeful that the 3+ days remaining till the meet bring further improvement. And assuming so, I chose slightly more aggressive openers than I thought I would.

    Squat - 495
    Bench - 360
    Deadlift - 585

Time to recover and heal up!

Light workout today, last before the meet. Massage tomorrow, off completely on Saturday, weigh in Saturday night, compete Sunday morning.

    Squat
    45x5x3, 135x5, 225x5, 315x3x2

    Press
    45x5, 91.5x5, 135x5, 179x5, 200x3, 157x5

    Deadlift
    135x5, 201x3x5

    KB Swing
    24kg x10x4

Everything felt light and easy, did the swings to get a little more work and blood to my low back without working very hard.

Thanks you guys for your good wishes and support. It was so great to finally do a full meet with the NYC-area SS Crew. The lifters on our team did great in both AM and PM sessions on Saturday, and John, Tyler and I represented non-embarrassingly today as well. There's too many people to name who made this weekend so great, but Dr. Petreeeezo and Rori have to lead the list for having me over last night and being great teammates, cheer captains, handlers, coaches, and everything else. Nick was great today helping handle us as well. So many others. Brent, who led a team of his own and lifted yesterday, came back again today with Jayne to cheer us all on. Lexy D did a million different things, including kicking ass on the platform yesterday, coming back today to cheer, and then having the team over for an amazing after party. RobIs and Kong made the trek out just to cheer us on. My clients Adrian and Victor, and my friend Megan, came from the city to watch and cheer. My mom flew in from Chicago to cheer me on and that meant a ton, it was literally the first time she's ever seen me lift in person. I could go on, but I'm sure no matter how long the list, I'll leave someone out. The strength of community that has been built around Starting Strength in this area is amazing, and perhaps as much as anything else, is whats keeping me here.

I'm bone tired, so a quick recap tonight will have to do. I'll try to get a video and a few thoughts and impressions down tomorrow before it fades.

    Went 9/9.
    1585 total.
Squats: 495, 520, 535 (ties gym PR, 35# meet PR)
Bench: 360, 385, 405 (5# all time paused and meet PR)
    Deadlift: 585, 625, 645 (18# all time PR, 30# meet PR)

The meet had about 60-65 lifters and took 10 hours. Flights were nearly 20 lifters apiece. Super long between both attempts and lifting events. It was also a non A/C facility so it was about 90+ degrees and extremely humid. My sweat never dried. The space can probably hold 125-150 people reasonably and there were probably around 300 there most of the day, contributing even more to the heat and humidity.

That, combined with the 2.5 hours sleep I got last night (tossing and turning and couldn't fall asleep for no reason), made for a really hard day. Sub-optimal meet conditions for sure. I don’t think I had much more than 1585 in me today, but I can’t help but be disappointed that I came in about 70# short of my goal. Especially in the deadlift, in which I put on 55# on my set of 5 and only got 30# more in the meet. I just didn’t have anything left 11 hours after the start of the rules clinic on 2.5 hrs sleep.

I'll be back for you, 1655.
