Started putting in a wall fan in the half bath. I'm a little disappointed in the quality of the fan. I bought the best one I could find, a Panasonic Whisper wall. The backdraft damper isn't secure enough. The instructions didn't specify that you have to cut out some metal from the extension tube for the outlet box to fix. So I had to pull it off wet with caulk and use some tin snips. . . . And the cover doesn't sit perfectly flush. I expect more for a $165 fan, damn it.
I'll finish the electrical tomorrow. And then I'll repair all the siding I broke.
Inside looking in post hole cutting. The cladding is 12x1 with gaps. No insulation. Someone pulled out the plaster here and put sheetrock over the lathe. This made the wall pretty thick. It caused some problems as usual. . . .
Under the vinyl there is some kind of particle board covering the nice cedar shake. If this was a one story, I'll rip all the vinyl off starting tomorrow.
Packed it with some denim insulation to help prevent condensation.
I have some vinyl work to do.
I sealed up all the seams with caulk and then mastic tape on the inner pipe.
It's a little weird, but there was no other good spot for it in this room. I'm going to spray paint the grill pure white later.

I'm weak at keeping these stable. It's far, far different than a barbell press. I'm pressing with elbows out to the side.

The density blocks have made chins very easy. The first few seem no more difficult than simply getting out of a chair. I remember when I could barely get 3.

Got the siding up around the fan exhaust, since it's going to rain tomorrow. I replaced a bunch of old pieces, since they broke. They are old and brittle. You can see the difference where new meets old. I'm going to replace all the old sections on this side. I'm considering putting up scafolding and residing the fucker myself when spring comes. I'm just scared to work up high. . . .
I wonder what it would have cost to have someone do this. I guess it would be about the same as a window, but it also required electrical work. . . .
I'm going to fix the section near the drier vent next. But I have other shit to do first.
I'll get the electric done for the fan tomorrow. It will be simple if the wall is thick enough to support a standard double gange box. Of course it won't be. . .

Finished the electrical for the bathroom fan. Nothing in this house is standard. Some nutter installed a junction box and then a covered switch plate, like you'd use in a basement, and then plastered over it. I had to dig it out.
Some board was in the way, so I have to move the new box over 2 inches, put some wood in there, and plaster over. . . .
Glued some insect screen on the inside of the cover. I don't want a bunch of wasps in here.
Found a cracked joist in the basement and another spot where a wood butcher (e.g., plumber) took a big bite. I sistered some boards with lots of liquid nails just to be safe.

Making a mounting panel for a doorbell. I'll paint it the color of the door.
Cut a few feet off of a big tree bush thing on the side porch. While I was doing this a snake slithered into the garage. I can't find the fucker. . . .
Rest day. I need a day off.
I'm sure if the snake is still in the garage.

Got one address number in??? CB2 is shipping them separately. Got another coat of paint, despite the humidity, on the back board for the cheap doorbell.
Primed and painted around the bathroom fan switch. We'll see if it ever dries. . . .

Installed the back plate I made for my new $10 doorbell button.
It doesn't look as good with the old storm door closed. I should replace it.
I made two cardboard prototypes for my house number backplate. The silver won't show well on the white siding.

I'm partial to the vertical.
I think the snake must have left.
Someone was blocking my driveway this morning. Security footage shows them backing into another car's bumper. But I couldn't see the driver when they left. The crumpled up my note and threw it in the driveway, but I didn't get a recording due to an odd coincidence with the mail carrier. He triggered a recording and it stopped just as the person must have been throwing the note. Oh well. It had out of state dealer plates. . . .

I stubbed my toe pretty bad last night. I tried running mainly on the side of my foot. Now my back is angry.

Called the cops last night on the car that blocked my driveway. It was idling outside for 40 minutes. They came, checked it out, pretty much searched his car, and left. They didn't call me and say what was up. Two calls later, they offered to come by and explain. They said some guy was charging his cell phone. He's got 60 day TX plates that expire in 2 days. And I've never seen the car. BS. I called back to the station to complain. I probably shouldn't have done that. Oh well. In any case, I stubbed my toe walking down my steps to take pictures of the car. I'm not sure where the guy is staying. But throwing a note in my driveway after blocking my driveway is not a good way to make friends. . . .
I ordered another security camera. It will be here on Monday.
