Translation of the book

Dear Mark Ripptoe.
i wanted to ask you two quastions:
1. If there is already a Starting strength book that is translated to the russian language?
2. I bought the book and i am reading it right now in english, and i thought to myself why there is no book in hebrew? I am from Israel, and book of this kind in the hebrew language may change lifes here(Although, the book in english is life changing too.but not all people in here can read the book in english).
I will be waiting for answer.

Few native Israeli's Hebrew is on a sufficient level to handle your book. In any event, there are merely some 10 million Hebrew speakers in the world, most of them children - powerlifting not being part of the culture. It would be a struggle to sell more than a few hundred copies in Hebrew... certainly not worth the effort. It would sell well in Russian, one reason being that there are 254 million Russian speakers, and another because their culture appreciates weightlifting. But regarding profitability, I don't know how much the Rubble is worth. German (132M), Japanese(123M), Chinese (Mandarin [one billion]), and Spanish (389M), are all potentially profitable markets. Arabic and Hindi-Urdu each have roughly the same number of speakers as English - roughly half a billion people, but I haven't heard of books making much money in those languages.

If you cut a deal with a publisher in a foreign language, I recommend getting a contract with as much up front as possible, as there is rarely ever a second payment.
