Sorry to hear about your BIL. I’m about 10-12 years younger than you, but I watch my friends and family rapidly change as they get older. Staying strong makes a hell of a difference in how life gets lived.

Thanks Mr. Bingley and PizzaDad! The Wake is Thursday, picking up 4 people. Great time to have a mini van.

    7/14/2024 Sunday
    Deadlift 135x5 210x5

    7/18 Thursday
    NorticTrak 12 min 0.6k
    Split Squat 45x5,5,5
    Airdyne 20 min

    7/20 Saturday
    Squat 45x5,5,5
    Airdyne 20 min

    7/22 Monday
    Airdyne 20

    7/23 Tuesday
    Pull Down 95x5 131x5,5,5
    Airdyne 30

Thoughts: It appears I fail to recover after every squat or dead workout.
Saturday evening I tweaked my back pretty good just working in the kitchen.
Why can I recover from a pull down that is about the same weight as my squat, and twice my dead?
I feel like I've been more than patient with my loading.
After every dead and squat workout I've been wrecked for 3 days.
Probably should sign up for a seminar.

Thanks Mr. Bingley, I hope so too.

    8/8/2024 Thursday
Squat 45x5 55x5,5,5 Felt good for the first time in ages
Bench 45x5 110x5 115x2 105x5 Misload on the first set, caught on second but could not get 5, dropped to 105 to get a final set of 5

Transitioning to two lifts per session, perhaps every other day, since one was not cutting it.

Long outage with travel, and trashed my workout area with the boat stuff. Good news is that I got a storage unit for my boat up north so the load / unload will be less taxing.
Finally feel like I'm making progress on my back issues which are causing my main lifts to suck.
Time will tell... it always does.

The good news is lots of boat rides with my 2 year old granddaughter. Dragonflies, Ducks, loons, and eagles are everywhere up there. Add an ice cream shop and a small zoo with spider monkeys and you've got it made.

    8/11/2024 Sunday

    Press 42x5 76x5,5,5
    Dead 135x5 215x0 205x5
    Airdyne 40 min

LESSON: perhaps belting on warmups is warranted. Felt better during (except for the missed dead at 215) and after....
so... if my lifts return to less horrible levels, I call it a win. Still too soon to know.
