Thread: Squat Descent Speed

    • starting strength seminar december 2024
    • starting strength seminar february 2025
    • starting strength seminar april 2025
    I posted this elsewhere, but figured I would get some more second opinions:

    What are your thoughts on the speed of your descent in the squat? Here are my last 2 work sets:

    Would you have a preference with one or the other? Or is it just go what feels better for the individual?

    Your 'slower' and 'faster' speeds look the same. For you that looks like a good speed. My own thoughts are that too slow is preferable to divebombing, since the latter leads to injuries.

    I agree with this.

    Go at a speed at which you can stay tight at the bottom... and it seems like you've got this.

    Yeah I agree, Ive noticed that when I descend too fast I go too far down and my knees shift forward and hammys lose tension then I get the butt wink and it turns into a GM
