Is there a difference between hip drive and contracting your quads?
I discovered that I could replicate the "hip drive" cue by simply contracting my quads at the bottom of the squat. Is hip drive in essence just knee extension, because the only way you can drive your hips upwards is by extending your knees with your quads? So isn't using the "hip drive" cue turning your squat into a more quad dominant squat, or at least the first part of the ascension phase where your torso remains the same angle?

"hip drahve" is a cue to focus on not lifting your chest. Of course your quads are going to be contracting, anytime your leg straightens your quads contract.
