I think the answer also depends on whether you use a bit of bounce at the bottom or press from a dead stop (and again, whether with the bar on your shoulders or from a floating rack position).
With a stricter form, you need to take down the bar in a way that allows you to return to a good setup, and this might be easier to do if you apply a bit of control to the descent.
