You are probably fine for now. It's really not all that critical until you start really getting heavier. Even then it's not that you HAVE to, I just think its better for volume work to use straps

If you don't do the volume work all that often then it's fine for sure. If you pull with a relatively high frequency then I'd say they become even more useful.
