    Got good, tight position under the bar on the pin presses, went fine. Decided to trim my 80% deadlift down to just a triple, as any improvement to recovery would be nice. Forgot that they should have been halting, not regular (went fine).

    Squat still coming back; doesn't feel great. Almost pressed four times last week, but Sunday's workout slipped to Monday. 148 is my second-most for 3x5. A PR is still a couple of weeks away--we'll see. I did note that I am getting a little breath after every rep. The process is quick; the press set is done in 20-25 seconds.

    There aren't too many gym rituals I wouldn't try, even if only for amusement (no smelling salts . . . yet). I have taken to drinking a shot glass of our leftover coffee and calling it my "pre-workout" as a joke. Two ounces of cold half-decaf coffee isn't likely to have any real effect at all, but it lightens the mood and tastes so good!

    Bench slow, but fine. Bar path decent. Got to the gym late in the day. After bench, focus was slipping, under-motivated/hydrated/nourished/recovered. I've got a lot of excuses. On the deadlift, reps 2 and 3 were not great, and I called it there. Some soreness after and next day. We'll see if some squats help.
