I have been experiencing very minor hip discomfort in the front of my thigh for a few months, mostly after jiu jitsu but it really wasn’t anything to worry about. Squats and deadlifts do not bother it at. Three weeks ago after getting tossed around by waves in the ocean my hip started to almost click when extending my hips, this lasted for four days. There have been no reoccurrences of this since, but the pain seems to be very consistent now. I went to an orthopedic surgeon who did an X-ray that came back with the following:
“three views of the hip show no evidence of any degenerative changes but there is a small cam lesion”

Upon further reading I see it is FAI, and there seems to be kind of mixed opinions on surgical options. I do not want to wear my hips out as I’m only 32 years old and have a very active job, but am not in any severe pain to warrant surgery according to the doc. Is this something I should stay ahead of, see another specialist and consider surgery? The doc suggested pt obviously, which I’ve never had any good results in the past with. Any opinions would be very appreciated.
