    Default Squat grip help (tendinitis)

Hi all, been dealing with lateral tendinitis for a few months.

Stopped training but did the chin rehab for several weeks. Tendinitis didn’t go away but got more bearable so I started training again.

Working my way back up on all the lifts but still dealing with a fair amount of pain. Still doing the chins on Tuesdays and Thursdays while trying to progress on the program m-w-f.

Never had this issue before and have run the NLP several times. I feel like an idiot.

Anyway, realized I needed to revisit my squat grip to ensure it’s not out of whack. Here’s a warmup set… What needs fixing? Aside from that dumb stomp at the beginning. Not sure why I did that. Please help. Don’t want to go to the doctor and have them cut me up unnecessarily.

Not sure if it's your grip. Could be lack of upper back extension. After you inhale it looks like you are letting your chest sink. Also not sure if you are looking down too low. All these things tend to force you to support the bar with your arms instead of your back.

I had some minor tendonitis a while back and found that adjusting my grip didn't do anything, but focusing on my upper back helped. Especially the cue to pinch the shoulder blades together, like the photo in the bench press chapter of the blue book.

I think the bar is too low. Give us a properly filmed video.

The camera angle is not ideal, but your grip doesn't look too bad. Your wrists look fairly neutral, but again a better camera angle would be better. Take a video from the real quarter and we can see things better.

Yep, my bad. I thought it would be helpful to capture the grip from a more obvious angle. Just posted a new video from today, better angle and an actual set. Thanks for the help!

I suspect the same, but can't be certain. Much easier to tell this one in person when you can physically feel for the spines of the scapulae.
