Gregory Hess Gregory Hess has been serving the U.S. Corps of Cadets at West Point since 2010, where he has taught various courses within the Department of Physical Education. In addition to his teaching and administrative responsibilities as an Assistant Professor, he serves in a dual role as a Certified Athletic Trainer. He provides basic athletic training services and mentorship to cadets injured during physical education classes and company athletics. Currently, Gregory is the course director for both the Fundamentals of Personal Fitness and Strength Development courses, where there are opportunities to enlighten cadets on the utility and efficacy of the basic barbell lifts. His professional interests center around the relationship between physical preparedness—particularly strength—and injury prevention and mitigation.
