Rip, for people of my age, we are concerned with the general decline of civilisation and the West. If there was a lesson to take from Starting Strength beyond the physical, it would be learn something deeply, and get stronger. Getting individuals to critically think about things they do, and get strong is an effective antidote to clown world. I'd wager there's not too many trainees with blue hair. This makes Starting Strength one of the few effective options to fight clown world available as it can't be interdicted by the regime (yet). Is Starting Strength being turned into a front in the culture war something that bothers you, or are you intrigued by how it's developed?

In case Nick's in the Q&A when it gets filmed:

Nick, has anyone ever walked down a street towards you? seen you, and immediately turned the other way?

    Thanks.

In old forum posts, Rip recommended Rolfing to deal with Kyphosis and uneven scapular mobility.

I‘ve had issues with my shoulders & sternum area for years that get worse with weights near my PRs and have lead me to plateau for years now.

Recently I‘ve had a Rolfing session, which resulted in a significantly different posture and a sensation of more ‚freedom‘ in the ribs & sternum. However in the gym I seem to fall back into my old posture.

Can Rip talk about his experience with Rolfing and maybe how to use it to help with one‘s postural issues in lifting?

What are Rip's current pulling numbers? I seem to remember he pulls heavy once a week still, or maybe every other week?

Question is regarding the Starr rehab protocol for “pulled” muscles. I have used the rehab protocol a few times and had great success. I recently “pulled” my abductor during my heavy squat day. I had a pain once I dropped below parallel. I just went to the pins and called it a day. Was pretty sore that evening had no bruising. Woke up the next day and felt fine started the process of rehab anyway. This lead me to my question. At what level of “torn” is the muscle susceptible to scarring? Is there any real difference between a tweak, strain, pull or tear? Would the rehab length be different and what are some signs you may be complete with your rehab earlier than expected. I ask this because I thought maybe it’s good to go after 5 days with no pain. I then worked my way up to 225 which on rep 3 which felt like I pull it again. No bruising and fine the next am. I back on the protocol and will just run it out.

Back ground: 44 years old, 5-11 225lbs Started 3 years ago at 155lbs.
    Bench 322x3x5
    Press 197x3x5
Squat 380x3x5 (couple of injuries that affected squats)
    Deadlift 510x3x5

What is the relationship between bodyweight and the NLP? For instance: Say a trainee is at the end of their NLP, they have gone from a BW of 185 to 230 in 6 months. They squat 365, deadlift 405, rest of the lifts are of requisite level. Could this trainee prolong their NLP if they gained 30 pounds.

In other words, can a novice trainee prolong an NLP (meaning adding 5 pounds to the bar every workout) by continually increasing bodyweight until it become no longer desirable?

Thanks for addressing my rolfing question.

These are the old posts I was referring to, in which you suggested to try rolfing (I can‘t link directly to your reply):

Uneven shoulder heights when doing pull ups.

    kyphosis

In other posts you had also spoken positively of ART and applying pressure with the elbow to release a spasming piriformis/hip rotator. I was wondering if you had some rules of thumb to share, as to when such approaches are warranted and how to tell the effective ones from those that aren‘t.

If you have the money, try them all and see which works best for you. But these things are expensive, and that may influence your impression of their effectiveness.
